Polaris has announced two new machines to its Ranger line of UTVs. The 2014 Ranger Diesel HST and Ranger Diesel HST Deluxe are loaded with features that are invaluable in the agricultural and rural markets, most importantly a diesel engine. Both models are fitted with a hydrostatic transmission, a treadle pedal and multi-link De Dion Suspension. The Deluxe model also comes standard with full climate control.

“Polaris continues to innovate our product offerings to provide solutions to a wide variety of customer needs,” said David Longren, Vice President of Polaris’ Off-Road Division. “In developing the Ranger Diesel HST and Ranger Diesel HST Deluxe, we wanted to create vehicles that offered maximum comfort and ease-of-use to cater to the needs of the agricultural or rural lifestyle customer.”

A 24-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine powers the new Rangers through the hydrostatic transmission for excellent torque and power. An engine braking system is standard in the transmission for controlled deceleration when carrying a load. Polaris’ On-Demand True All-Wheel Drive is designed to handle any terrain put in front of the new Ranger models by automatically engaging all four wheels when more traction is required and then back to two-wheel drive when the need is not there.

An industry-exclusive treadle pedal allows for forward and reverse travel without shifting gears or taking hands off the steering wheel. Polaris claims this makes for less user fatigue and less time on the job. Other user comforts include hydraulic power steering, a tilt steering wheel with 10-inches of motion, larger seat width and extra legroom. The Ranger Diesel HST Deluxe is outfitted with a fully enclosed cab with climate control that includes heat, defrost and air conditioning to allow comfortable work conditions in any climate. The doors also open 180 degrees for easy entry and exit.

Both the Ranger Diesel HST and Ranger Diesel HST Deluxe will be offered in sage green and will have a MRSP of $15,199 and $20,999 respectively. They are expected on showroom floors in April.
