William Yokley took his first win GNCC SXS win of the year at the Big Buck GNCC in his Polaris/Costal/National Guard/Yoshimura Racing Team RZR XP 900, coming from a second row start. Despite the limited passing opportunities, Yokley was able to take the lead based on time by the second lap and then battled with his teammate, Scott Keiger and Can-Am’s Kyle Chaney.
Yokley would eventually finish first, in the process moving to second in points in the XC1 Modified class.
“It was tough to pass, I had to use my car a little to stay right there!” Yokley laughed. “It was so fast and so tight in places but we were able to capitalize some things and make lines through the pack.”
Chaney would finish just 10 seconds behind Yokley in his Chaney Racing/Turnkey UTV Can-Am Maverick 1000R.
“The track was pretty fast and we really had to take some chances to pass, but we made it work. Our Can-Am had the power and took everything we gave it out there. The way the Maverick corners and handles, it really was amazing,” said Chaney.
Keiger was in the lead physically in his Polaris XP 1000, but would end up with third place. This puts his Costal National Guard team third in points.
Big Country Powersports finished fourth in their Polaris XP 900 to hold onto the points lead going into Round 3 at the Mountaineer Run in Masontown, West Virginia on May 24.
